Description
The Neogen (Formally 3M) Petrifilm Enterobacteriaceae count plates are utilized in the food, beverage, and bottled water industries to quantify Enterobacteriaceae. These plates can identify potential sources of contamination from various sources such as environmental surfaces, raw materials, food products, and bottled water. The enumeration encompasses coliforms and pathogenic strains like Salmonella and Shigella. These plates are pre-prepared culture media that eliminate the need for media production and quality control. They comprise modified Violet Red Bile Glucose (VRBG) nutrients, a cold-water-soluble gelling agent, and a tetrazolium indicator for colony enumeration.Enterobacteriaceae are gram-negative rods that do not oxidize and ferment glucose to produce acid and/or gas. The colonies of Enterobacteriaceae appear as red colonies in association with a yellow zone, red colonies with gas bubbles, and red colonies with yellow zones and gas bubbles.
