Aerobic count bacteria are present in a variety of food matrices and serve as indicators for food spoilage. Getting accurate aerobic bacteria counts in raw materials, finished product and the production environment are critical to making time-sensitive decisions that impact process control, cleaning decisions and ultimately product quality and safety.
The Neogen (Formally 3M) Petrifilm Rapid Aerobic Plates are a fast, accurate, sample-ready culture medium system. The plates contain nutrients, a cold water soluble gelling agent and a dual-sensing indicator technology that allows for easier counting of colonies in just 24 hours for most food matrices. Blue and red indicator dyes in the plate colour the colonies. All colonies regardless of their size or colour intensity should be counted. To assist with estimated enumerations, gridlines are visible on the plates when used with a backlight.
